No Freedom, No Rights

No Freedom, no rights

In 2009, 4tomorrow, an independent non-profit organization based in Paris, established the Poster4tomorrow competition with the aim of raising public awareness of social and environmental issues.

The first edition, Freedom of Expression The pencil is mightier than the sword, was about freedom of expression in the world, and the brief explicitly mentioned Iran as one of the countries where this basic freedom is not guaranteed.

The poster that I created and called “No Freedom, no rights” is a clear reference to the condition of women in some countries where religion, fundamentalism and politics place disconcerting limits and restrictions.

I felt this theme of freedom of expression very much, and the realization of the poster was really immediate, almost in an instant: that’s why I was very surprised and very happy when I found out that my poster had been included among the 100 winning posters and that it would be exhibited in 24 cities around the world since the big opening event on December 10th, 2009.

You can see the poster above, while below there are some photos of the exhibitions in some cities around the world (the last picture sees me happy and proud at the Triennale di Milano).
